About Jamie and Art Lab Classes

Welcome to Art Lab, where creativity and brain science meet. Together, we explore therapeutic art techniques designed to connect your brain and body, fostering healing and wellness through creativity.

At Art Lab, I focus on creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where people can explore and experiment with various therapeutic art practices. My sessions are rooted in the belief that everyone (yes everyone!)—regardless of age or experience—can benefit from the healing power of art. Through somatic techniques, breathe work, story, hands-on exploration, and connection, we can heal and stay well.

I have taught children of all ages in the public school system for the past 17 years, the last 9 years at a fine arts school. I know the power of multi aged groups, of sharing and learning in community, and of learning about ourselves and others to foster understanding. I have seen first hand, time and time again, the transformative power of the arts. My lived experience has been shaped not only by my work with students, but also through my own personal experience as a parent, as a creator, and as a ‘recovering’ Type A overachieving people pleaser coming out of burnout and chronic pain. I have seen and have experienced how the creative process can have a profound impact on mental, emotional, and physical health, and I’m passionate about helping others understand the science behind it. From reducing stress to enhancing self-regulation, my approach uses art as a tool to activate the body’s natural parasympathetic healing processes and cultivate emotional resilience.

I work with clients one-on-one and in small groups out of my home art space in Comox, BC. I look forward to sharing, creating, healing, and growing with you.
